Archie Fox, age 6 has been crowned the winner of our Calendar drawing competition and is looking forward to his trip to Santa in Lapland next month.

FAMOUS CONSTRUCTIONS

The competition invited your children aged under 11 the chance for their picture of a famous construction to be included in our 2019 calendar, which will be sent out to brokers across the country.

Entries came in from children as young as 4 years old and ranged from world famous buildings, such as the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty and Big Ben down to more local structures including the Angel of the North and Shropshire’s Ironbridge.

SANTA AND RUDOLPH

The 12 pictures with the most votes were then included, one per month, in the Thistle 2019 calendar, with the overall winner receiving a family day trip to Lapland to visit Santa before Christmas!

Archie’s colourful picture of the Clifton Suspension Bridge which spans the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset, was crowned the winner. Archie also included hot air balloons in his picture, a nod to the Bristol International Balloon Festival, a four-day annual event which over the last 40 years has become Europe’s largest annual meeting of hot air balloons, attracting over 130 balloons from across the globe.

Archie’s twin brother Freddie also entered the competition with a picture of Weston Super Mare Pier, which was a finalist and is included in the calendar. Archie and Freddie are sons of Ben Fox of Glentworth Insurance Services in Weston Super Mare.

Ben comments: “We are so thrilled that Archie has won the competition! Both boys were very eager to enter and were really keen to do a famous local construction. As a family we are all delighted and extremely excited for our day trip of a lifetime in December.”

On Saturday 15 December, twins Archie and Freddie plus mum and dad will fly from Gatwick to Rovaniemi, far inside the Arctic Circle, where the snow is thick and sparkling, and where Santa Claus and his reindeer will be waiting to meet them.

Their day will include a private family meeting with Santa where Archie and Freddie will receive a special gift, they will meet Rudolph and his friends, enjoy a sled dog/husky ride, have some play time in the snow, plus lunch and a chance to explore Santa’s village – a truly magical day that the whole family will treasure forever!

Thistle Underwriting teamed up with partner MGA’s aQmen and TFP Schemes to exhibit together for the second time this year at the recent Broker Expo held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Specialist Lines Zone Sponsors

The three MGA’s jointly sponsored the Specialist Lines Zone at the Insurance Age event; offering a larger presence to make a greater impact, to over 1,000 visitors during the day.

The group created another impressive joint stand which allowed all three companies to shine individually yet also brought them together under a large archway. This allowed for a very open stand with a central point providing refreshments which opened out to four quadrants, one for each of the three businesses, plus a fourth that reinforced their collective strength and offering.

Building Relationships

The underwriting teams were kept busy throughout the day holding productive conversations with visitors to the stand.

John Mason, Thistle’s Underwriting Director comments: “Broker Expo is a great opportunity for us to build our brand alongside our fellow MGA’s and to meet face to face with both existing and new brokers. The Insurance industry has always been focused on good, solid relationships and Broker Expo provides us with an excellent platform to build on those. The three teams also used Expo to cross-refer brokers between each business.”
The MGA group are now turning their heads to ideas for BIBA 2019 in May.
